Volcanoes to climb, waves to surf, tropical rainforest to trek and colourful, colonial cities to explore. Nicaragua has no shortage of attractions. Yet the country remains undiscovered by most of the world, with misconceptions still lingering in the popular consciousness.
Nicaragua has suffered its fair share of human and natural disasters in the past century: a brutal military dictatorship, civil war, earthquakes and the devastation of Hurricane Mitch. But after decades of turmoil, this former "off the radar" area is at peace and is emerging as a potential regional retirement and investment hotspot.
While the country's infrastructure is by no means completely developed, for some this adds to Nicaragua's ‘off the beaten track' appeal. Add to this the country's friendly, welcoming people, outstanding scenery and beautiful colonial architecture, and the attraction is evident.
With the days of the Contra war now long over, Nicaragua is slowly getting back on its feet and the burgeoning real estate and investment industry is offering a much needed boost to the country's economy.

Expert Tips for Buyers and Investors in Nicaragua
Nicaragua, long overlooked by travelers and property investors due to internal strife, is now seeing global interest. The largest Central American country, yet the least populated, has natural beauty, miles of beaches on both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts and several truly colonian cities including Granada and Leon - among the oldest in the Western Hemisphere. Some of the hot spots are San Juan del Sur, the Tola region, Playa Coco and other Pacific beach locations for surf and sand. Commercial, industrial and business ventures seem to locate near Managua. Agribusiness is found all over but especially in the mountain towns of Jinotega, Esteli and Matagalpa. |
